Media Requests

No court facilities nor court proceedings may be photographed, recorded, or broadcast except as provided in California Rule of Court 1.150 and Court Standing Order 2010-108. Under these rules, the use of cameras and other recording devices requires permission from the Presiding Judge, or the Judicial Officer presiding over the proceeding. Requests to photograph must be submitted to the Judicial Officer 5 court days before the proceeding, unless good cause is shown. The rule requires that the requester file (1) a Media Request to Photograph, Record, or Broadcast (form MC 500), and (2) a completed, proposed Order on Media Request to Permit Coverage (form MC 510).

You may submit your paperwork in one of two ways: email the Executive Assistant, Bianca Fasuescu, at bfasuescu@sanmateocourt.org or submit your request to the Courtroom Clerk in the Department where the court proceedings will occur. Either the Executive Assistant or the Courtroom Clerk will provide the paperwork to the Judge. You may call the Courtroom Clerk directly to find out the Judicial Officer's decision on the request. A list of the Judicial Officers is atDirectory of Judges.
