Re:†††††† Review of Mosquito Control Measures

Honorable Judge Freeman;

In accordance with the California Penal Code, the Local Agency Formation Commission (LAFCo) considered the above noted report at the May 21, 2003 meeting and directed staff to submit the following response.

Absent adopted resolutions of property tax exchange from affected agencies, LAFCo is not able to process the annexation application. The Commission is however considering the SMCMAD sphere of influence amendment and municipal service review at the meeting of May 21, 2003 and directs staff to place the annexation application on the Commissionís next possible agenda once the property tax negotiation process is complete.

At the May 21 meeting, the Commission also continued the sphere of influence and municipal service review of the Mosquito Abatement District to the July 16 LAFCo meeting and requested that the District continue to work with the affected cities so that the annexation application could be processed in a timely manner.
