Response from the City of San Carlos
The City of San Carlos has reviewed the Grand Jury Summary Findings and Recommendations pertaining to the Pet Overpopulation Report. The City of San Carlos disagrees partially with the findings of the Grand Jury recommendation as it relates to the licensing of cats.
At the present time the City of San Carlos, in conjunction with the County of San Mateo, is in the process of conducting an analysis of the present cost of services provided by the Peninsula Humane Society. The firm of DMG Maximus has been given a contract to conduct a cost-benefit analysis of services to the individual cities.
Once the study has been completed the City of San Carlos will review the matter and determine the fiscal impact of the implementation of the Grand Jury recommendation.
