| Mediation Approach: |
I tailor my approach to the specific facts of each case but generally I begin in a predominantly facilitative mode to make sure that the parties have an opportunity to tell their stories without judgment. In the middle and later stages of mediation, I often utilize a more evaluative \"reality testing\" approach as necessary. I approach mediation with patience, persistence and when appropriate, a sense of humor. I proactively work with counsel before the mediation to identify possible impediments to settlement, narrow issues and ensure that each side has the information they need to evaluate their case. If the case does not settle at the first mediation session, I will stay fully engaged by telephone follow ups as long as settlement remains a reasonable possibility. |
